Abdul Salam Mohammed

Abdul Salam Mohammed, had a distinguished multi-sectoral public service career in university education, marketing/public relations, social insurance, public works/infrastructure, port management and operations.
He holds a BA. Degree in Mass Communications, Bayero University, Kano (1981) and an MSc. in Journalism, Ohio University, Athens (1986). He has attended various courses in diverse fields and obtained, amongst others, certificates in Logistics, Transport and Ports (United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY, 2001) and Port Planning and Management (New Orleans, 2000). He participated in a programme on Nigerian Infrastructure (John F. Kennedy School of Government, 2005).

He started his early career at Bayero University, Kano (BUK) in 1982 as a Graduate Assistant and rose to the position of Lecturer II from where he moved his service to the Nigerian Hotels Limited in 1989. He served as Assistant General Manager (Public Relations) at the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Funds (NSITF) from where he was appointed Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport in Jigawa State in 1994. He voluntary resigned as a Commissioner in April, 1996 to take an appointment at the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) as Assistant General Manager (Public Relations). He served the authority in various capacities and was appointed Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer in 2007. He left the service of the NPA in December, 2010. Currently, he is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Asta-Barka Nigeria Limited, a company with interest in property development, equity and commodity trade, maritime and transport consultancy. He is also the Chairman of a scanning systems enterprise, Sunrise Advanced Technologies Limited.
Abdul Salam Mohammed has served in various committees of the Federal Government of Nigeria, mostly on port reform and performance improvement. Arising from his key role in the Nigerian port reform, he has presented many papers internationally and remains a key resource person on Public Private Partnership (PPP). He was an institutional member of the Board of directors of seven (7) public corporations; two (2) of which he was the chairman.
He is a member of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, and International Multi-Modal Transport Association. He is an honorary citizen of the city of New Orleans, U.S.A.


Nasir Zubairu

Nasir Zubairu, has an illustrious career in finance, banking, management, academia and business development in both public and private sectors.

He started his career at Nigeria Exports Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) in 2007 as an Accountant, from where he moved to Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) in 2008 as an Executive Trainee and rose to the position of Assistant Banking Officer, where he resigned to further his education abroad. Currently, he is the Assistant General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Asta-Barka (ASTA) and a Part-Time Lecturer at Plymouth University.

He holds a BSc. in Accountancy, Bayero University, Kano (2004), a Masters in Oil and Gas Accounting, Glasgow Caledonian University (2011) and a Pg. Diploma in Research Methodology, Plymouth University (2017). He has attended various courses in various fields and obtained, amongst others, certificates in Creative and Emotive Branding, Sustainable Business, the Practice of Managing Container Flows, Supply Chain Transformation, Selling Skills, Fraud and Anti-Money Laundering,  and Lenovo PC Basics and Architecture.

Nasir is currently pursuing a PhD with the Maritime and Logistics, Business and Policy (MLBP) group at the Institute for Social, Policy and Enterprise Research (iSPER), Plymouth University. His research is on International Logistics, Supply Chain and Shipping Management with interest in the Optimising Financial Performance in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Supply Chains.


Auwal Mohammed

Auwal Mohammed holds a BSc. in Business Management from University of Maiguduri (2013) and MSc. in International Business with Human Resource Management from Herriot Watt University (2016). Auwal has attended professional courses and seminars, and is a member of the Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management.

He started his career with Asta-Barka in 2014 as an Administration Assistant, a role he served with distinction before voluntarily resigning to further his education in 2015. Auwal return to Asta-Barka as the Head of Administration in 2017 after successfully completing a MSc. program abroad.
